I have an old Regal Reso that I got probably 15 years ago. It has a tag or plate that says “ Regal Model 75
Limited edition “. Wondering if it’s just something someone put in it ? Any thoughts.

If you remove the coverplate and cone, is there a soundwell, or are there soundposts and a bass baffle instead?
I bring up the latter because a guy on the Steel Guitar Forum was thinking this Model 75 had soundposts and a baffle. It was an old post from the year 2000.
Maybe that's what makes it a special edition? If it turns out that it has a soundwell like all of the other imported Regals which they started making in 1987 when Saga Music revived the brand name then I have no clue what would make it different or "special."
Did you put the pickup on there or did it come like that when you bought it?
Hi Mark. I haven`t removed the cone and cover yet, but I did remove the 2 screens and there appears to be a soundwell. I know that the reso has been messed with as It sounds horible and there appears to be one leg of the spider that has been patched with a metal plate. When I got it 15 + years ago I was starting on pedal steel and played mandolin in a band. I knew nothing about the construction of resos. I messed with Oswald stuff a little and put it on the shelf. Then 2 years ago I stumbled on my R-model Beard. WOW. the sound . And at one point a little water came in my basement and got the Regal a little. Now I`m thinking of getting a new cone and spider + Fishman in my Beard and took the Regal out to maybe install the old cone + in it. And looking at it I remembered that little plate and I have never seen one like it. My haunch is someone trying to hide screws underneath. The Regal was just like that when I bought it. Pickup and volume slider installed. Thanks for your reply. Dave
The nameplate that says that it's a limited edition instrument was added after the guitar left Saga Music.
Thanks Brad. That`s what I figured. I`ll post pictures of the messed up spider and cone when I take it apart.
