The title says it all, looking for a basic up to intermediate version. I have searched high and low and no luck on a dobro tab for this tune.

Thanks, Phil

Never even heard of this fiddle tune until you posted this thread, and I don't recall that it's ever been called in any jam I've attended. There are no dobro performances I can find online, but if I were to want to work it up, I'd start with the following guitar tab and build my own dobro tab.

https://www.flatpick.com/v/vspfiles/flatpick_jam_tabs/Paddy_Turnpike.pdf

For a beginner version, I would use about 75% quarter notes and the rest 8th notes with a few hammer-ons and slides. Intermediate version I'd write with about 30-50% quarter notes, the rest 8th notes with plenty of scale hammer-ons and pull-offs.

Adding to what Dane wrote - sometimes you have that take what you can get.

I found a banjo tab (claw hammer/old time style) on one of the sister sites, Banjo Hangout. Since strings 1-4 are tuned the same as dobro, this should get you in the ballpark.

Though I haven't tried it out yet, the tab author wrote that it's based on the Arthur Smith version, which is apparently in the Key of A, so capo at the second fret. Or play it in G  without the capo.

I don’t know if you can find it on YouTube or not, but there was a video of East Nash Grass playing “Paddy on the Turnpike” at a gig here in PA last year. It doesn’t help with your tab request, but if you can find it, it can give you an idea of how Gaven Largent approached it.

Here is a link to a teaching video of Paddy by one of my favorite acoustic guitar players, Brad Davis. A number of years ago I had the pleasure of attending an afternoon flatpicking workshop with Brad in the Bay Area.  I have a 4 DVD set of flatpick jams with Brad that was put out by the no longer published Flatpicking Guitar magazine. This video was "lifted" from DVD #1.

Brad plays it in the Key of G. You can compare this video to the banjo tab above, and the guitar tab posted earlier by Dane.

Andy Hall has a great solo with The Infamous Stringdusters. I do have some banjo arrangements that I will try and bring over. Thanks.

Man, at my age I can't even listen that fast these days. It is good to hear where he is going though. My own half speed version some day.
