I just spent hours searching for information on an older Dobro I'm about to take a look at. I wonder if you experts can tell me a ballpark estimate of it's value. From what I researched, I believe the Decal is one that was used starting in 1967. Hopefully I can make out the serial number. I believe I will see a serial # in this range;
1967-1974 OMI Dobro:
101 - 401 1967-1970
402 - 712 1971
713 - 1427 1972
1428 - 2296 1973
2297 - 2372 early 1974
If my research is correct. If it is in reasonable condition, and if the serial number jives with this list, I'm thinking $700 - $900 is it's estimated value. There are a lot of "if's" in that statement. What do you experts have to say?

Without actual photos of the guitar, it's impossible to give a guesstimate. Is this a round neck or square neck?

Think if you were trying to get the value of a car based on its logo.

Thanks Brad,
I neglected to mention in the OP, it's a square neck.
After inspecting the instrument I found;
Serial # 222
It sounds great and is 100% functional
The finish shows it's been on the road for a few decades.

That's a little more information than we had earlier, though with only the headstock as pointed out by Brad it'ds impossible to be very accurate. I would say it's on the low end $700 - maybe closer to $600.

I've seen a few '70s and '80s OMI squareneck Dobros for sale on line fairly recently, and a couple on the Steel Guitar Forum that looked pretty clean, and there were no takers at around $800 with extras thrown in.
