Hi all,  I have a Chinese Reso uke and I would like to make a tail piece for it like the ones on National ukuleles. I have not been able to fin any information on what they are made or how they attach to the cover plate.  Any info would be appreciated. I have one solid body and a wood body resonator ukes.

Hi Steve.

How do the strings currently attach? What is problematic about the current setup? Do you have a picture?

The National tailpiece looks like a metal strap that screws to the coverplate, with the strings tied on similar to a classical guitar. It looks like Gold Tone reso ukes have a similar wooden strap. Gold Tone has an extensive parts store, perhaps you can check there. Note that the coverplate would have to be drilled to attach the strap in either case, Good luck on the project!

Hi Dave, Mine has slots in the cover plate that can cut strings.

Contacting Gold Tone is a great idea!
Thanks
Steve
