Resonator Guitar Lovers Online
Anyone own or play a Gene GeFellers resonator by Cross Guitars? He builds out of Greeneville, TN. Have seen these on Reverb and such, but little to no sound samples, video, or discussion.

Thanks!
I never personally played one, but a very good friend of mine played one of Gene’s guitars at ResoGat last year. I remember him telling me that he liked it a lot, though it could have used a tweak here and there with the set-up to suit him. He said that the craftsmanship was top notch and that Gene was a really nice guy to talk to.
Thanks. If he had guitars at ResoGat, maybe there's some additional players who can comment.
I like his "M" series model on his link (above). Same relative proportions as a typical R body, but dimensions sized up by about 5% (UB, waist, LB). I emailed him and he said he discontinued that style, but would still do it as a custom. Very nice guy in email comms.
I've never seen or heard one of these guitars in person, but they look very nice.
Though I'm not a fan of all the different body shapes. I guess too many years of preconceived ideas in my head as to what is aesthetically pleasing. Like a Scheerhorn L Body - which is almost identical to my Clinesmith - the Beard E and R bodies, traditional R Dobro shape, Martin dreadnoughts, Fender Teles and Strats, and Gibson Les Pauls. Howard mentioned in the other thread the shape the old Sho-Bro, I never liked that big tubby look. I also don't care for the appearance of a cutaway dreadnought flattop - doesn't look "right" to me, though it makes for easier playing on the frets up the neck.
I guess I'm just getting to be an old guy who is stuck in his ways...
