Right on the edge of your 259 miles from Atlanta, the two most obvious are in Nashville: Gruhn Guitars and Carter Vintage Guitars. Google their websites and you can see their inventory.
There are of course other guitar store in Nashville but these are the two you want to start with.
And while you're there check out Guitar Center. They sometimes take in nice dobros on trade from quality local musicians.
There is a guitar store in Chattanooga that carries a decent selection, not necessarily the real high end resos but unfortunately the name escapes me right now.
If Janet Newsom sees this post she'll know, she lives near Chattanooga, and she'll likely have additional recommendations.
Dream Guitars in Weaverville, NC often has a decent selection of high end resos. Google their site to see what's in stock.
Unfortunately the music store in the Chattanooga area closed a couple months ago. I am not aware of any other stores in this area that has a decent selection of resonator guitars. Along with Nashville I would suggest finding someone who knows about music stores in Asheville.
If you can wait until July ResoGat in Wilkesboro, NC will have 100 plus players attending our 4 day event and the majority would be more than happy to let you try out their reso. You may find one or more for sale by an attendee. If you want more info check out ResoGat.org for info about this years event.

I don't know of anything in that radius from Atlanta that fits the bill. But if you just want to try different models you might want to go to Bear on the Square in Dahlonega later this month. There are always a few dobro players there and I would think many would let you try their instrument out.
