There's a video demo of the dobro intro with a tab at the top here: https://youtu.be/Gsbm0I1AhKs

Snagged this paragraph from Google AI:

"The intro to Billy Currington's "Good Directions" on dobro involves playing string 1 open, then at the 2nd fret, and then sliding from the 5th fret to the 4th fret before landing on the 2nd fret again. For the outro, you can play string 1 at the 14th fret, sliding down to the 12th, followed by string 2 at the 12th fret. Then, play string 1 at the 12th fret and slide it to the 11th fret, and finally play string 2 at the 11th fret."

Below is a video. Not played on an actual dobro, but on the amazing MSA Tour Pro 10/6 - E9 pedal steel on the front neck, 6 string back neck tuned to GBDGBD. You can have one of your own for only $9,295! wink

The dobro on the original studio recording was played by Smith Curry who grew up here in the Bay Area, he was already a guitar player and like a lot of people, Smith took up dobro after seeing Jerry Douglas at a festival. He later added pedal steel and has become both a successful session player and touring musician. I don't know him well but I've met him a couple times through a mutual friend. He moved to Nashville in the mid '90s.
