Hey all. The inevitable happened last night. I knocked over my Slyde Compartment trying to grab my picks for the next song. Everything went flying. When all was gathered, one of my adored Acri brass fingerpicks was nowhere to be found. Used my spare picks to finish the set, and just figured I'd order some replacements.
Oops... Turns out I can't find them for sale anywhere. That's an unfortunate turn of events.
You see, I'm a pick flinger. I'd like to have more finesse in my right hand, but I don't. I have tried National, Dunlop, Propik, etc. None would stay on my fingers. I tried Perfect Touch, but I couldn't get them to work. Landis Studios (RIP Ron) has not started making the Stickies yet. And Gorilla Snot/rosin is just too much of a mess when I switch instruments.
The Acris are the only ones that worked for me.
So, for you similarly heavy handed players: What picks do you use? And do you do anything to keep them them on? I'm not quite ready for the Bashful Brother Oswald technique (put the picks on, lay my fingers on the table, and hammer them tight with a 7 ounce bullet bar - I watched him do it!). Thanks for the input, I haven't had to buy picks in 15 years!

As far as sticking on your fingers, I don't think Landis Studios pick has an equal with those little "burs" on the inside. Also very comfortable but the shape is different than most. I have pretty good luck with the Sammy Shelor stainless steel picks. Very smooth.
Daver, I guessing you already have, but I’ll ask—have you tried Cobalt BP picks from Rob’s site robickes.com, with a little saliva?

I have a pair of brass Acri picks you can have, but they are Mediums.
And you'd need to unbend them, as I shaped them to my finger pads (easy enough to do, as they are brass and easily shaped).

Sorry for your pick loss. I feel the same way about my (chrome) Acris.
The sure cure for PFS (pick-flinging syndrome). Mix up a bit of fiddle (or bass, my fave) rosin with lacquer thinner, paint it on the inside of your picks, let it dry. While you're at it, coat the parts of the bar that your fingers contact.
They'll stay put and all will be well in the world.
I have never had one of my Sammy Shelor picks come off a finger. Work great on both dobro and banjo.
