I am looking for recommendations for strings to put a lap steel into dobro tuning. I haven't seen many options other than mixing sets.

GHS - available at a variety of sites. Here's one:

Thanks Frederick, That's the only option I've found so far.

I buy nickel-plated singles from Strings and Beyond for my G tuning 22.5-scale steels. Low to high: 54-42-34-24-16-14 -- less thuddy-sounding for me. But a set of Dobro gauged strings would work too.

These work well on my Asher, but it's a 25" scale. Don't know what scale you're working with.

Here is a clickable link to the Asher strings:

Mark S. - you might have been in Plain Text, so your link did not come out as clickable in blue, needs Rich Text.

I use these for GBDGBD on both my Asher Electro-Hawaiian Custom 25" scale and my old Supro which has as I recall at 23" scale. Works fine either way.

For many years on the Supro I used Martin Resophonic Nickel coated strings 16-56, but they stopped making those several years ago.

Remember, like an electric guitar they should be either nickel or stainless steel.

I have never tried them myself on lap steel, but I have heard they will  will work because they have a steel core and nickel wrap along with the phosphor bronze component. But I think they will sound a little different than regular nickel wrap strings since they are designed specifically for acoustic instruments.

YES. I use them on my dual instrument, with a Fishman bridge pickup and a Lollar String Through mag pickup. Nicely balanced output with those....A little less bright than phosphor bronze but brighter than nickel....
