I ran into a website weeks ago a small store that sells I believe a custom made slide and there’s versions that have notches in the top flute. These are said to be hard to find and so I was excited but lost the tab on the browser can’t find it again. These would be chrome plated slides with a kind of “wood carved” look on the top where these notches are along the top edges of the top flute (to help grip) does anyone know what store website these are sold from? I just spent 30 minutes searching and couldn’t find it.

You’ll note on the product description though - they are cast stainless steel (no chrome plating).

Thanks I did wonder about the cast process. Would these then sound less bright than brass or steel with chrome plating?

In cases where I hve the same bar in both stainless steel and chrome-plated brass (in my case, a Beard 20/20…)
The chrome-plated brass sends an immediate bright “zing”, for lack of a better word. It cuts well in a mix.
The stainless steel tone is more fundamental-heavy, and the sustain is better.
There is a different feel to the bars, with the chrome-plated feeling noticeably slicker, and gliding more smoothly. The stainless feels solid and robust.
I notice the differences because I can A/B compare the bars.
I’ve never played chrome plated steel, so can’t comment on that.
And keep in mind if you’re comparing different materials across different tone bar brands, there are other factors that affect tone, like bar mass and such.
And I'm not sure if the casting process affects tone on EG Smith bars, vs a hypothetical non-cast version of the same bar.
