Are the NB1656 Resophonic Guitar strings discontinued? And if not, when will they be available again?

Hello,
Thank you for your message.
Sorry for the late reply.

As far as I know they are not coming back.

That's all I know

Thanks for hunting this down.

i must say, an oddly tentative and vague official response from D'addario.  You'd think they could equip their customer service reps with more definitive info.

In any event, once pipeline inventory flushes out from distributors and resellers, looks like game over on that set.

Reminds me of those netflix series that end abruptly and leaves you wondering, "is that it?" Or is there another season in the works?

EJ42s were always a go-to string set - I could go to Stuff Center and find them! They sounded great when first installed, but they just didn't last long enough for me.

Then I discovered D'Addario EXP42 coated strings. They lasted better than twice as long and cost twice as much. Not needing every other string change was definitely a plus. EXP42 was my set of choice.

Then D'Adddario "improved" their string offerings, and gave them six-character names like XT1656 and XS1656 so they would be easier to remember than EJ42, Sigh. I find that the XS strings are functionally like the EXP42. They cost twice as much and last twice as long. They sound pretty good. So this is my new set of choice, though I have no idea why discontinued my beloved EXP42s.

The XT strings are also coated, but not nearly as "well"/"robust"/"life extending" as the XS and don't seem to last much longer than the EJ, so not worth the increase in price for me.

Sorry to hear about discontinued nickel bronze, especially for all y'all with magnetic pickups. I never tried them, but I make up that the half-nickel wrap went a long way to balancing out the mag pickup.

I've been using the Beard strings lately, they last and sound good, around 7 bux I think.

So did I. The seller has a 62% seller rating so it's good that they didn't take our money.
