From my cursory look through the book "Dobro Roots" by Steve Toth, it looks most like the Model R 25, with the smaller upper bout, non-trapeze tailpice, poinsettia cover plate, and slotted headstock. Steve notes that it is "circa 1940."

The one in the book (p. 198) is a roundneck, not a squareneck, though. Not sure if this matters as it pertains to the model number.

As to value I really don't know. Sometimes I feel like there are only about 10 people in the world who are interested in prewar dobros, but Steve wrote that book so there must be more of us. If you can get in touch with him he's probably the best person to ask about it.

Here's a similar square neck in Australia with a different cover plate: reverb.com/item/94179756-dobro...resonator

There are a lot of people attempting to sell old Dobros for all kinds of prices, but what they go for, and if they sell at all, is a totally different matter. I think if I saved up $1,500 US and was patient I could have my pick of those I'm interested in (mainly Model 27s with original cones and spiders).

I can't emphasize enough that the vast majority of information that sellers have about old Dobros is likely suspect. I've seen obvious 70s OMI dobros listed as prewar, etc. Dobros are often in the hands of regular guitar players who know less than nothing about them.

Does this guitar have a round neck, or a square neck which is for lap style only?

Squarenecks are generally more valuable in prewar Dobros.

Does it have a soundwell under the cone?

30s Regal, very nice. That thing would be $1500.00- $2500.00 in a shop in California.

Soundwell is kinda important, also, is the binding real or painted on?

I like that stencil logo, I haven't seen that before, it's a neat export guitar, it's traveled a long way from Chicago.
