I saw one of those a while back, but I assumed for those prices they weren't Tim-built. Then I flipped through the pictures and saw the "Made in San Luis Obispo" label. I don't think they're doing anything nefarious. GC doesn't know anything about resonator guitars and National isn't labeled anywhere on the guitar.

Where it becomes misleading (likely unintentionally) is the "classic Scheerhorn craftsmanship" statement in product description.

Yeah GC relies on AI to write most of their used product descriptions, which means a bunch of worthless verbiage. 

"Smooth playability and clear note separation make it a standout for studio or stage. A pro-level resonator with vintage-inspired character and modern reliability." I can guarantee nobody at that store put a tone bar on the guitar, and nothing about that guitar is vintage-inspired . . .

 I kind of like it when the seller knows less than I do (you can often profit from their ignorance), as long as the return policy is good, and GC has a great one for "used" (but not for "vintage") gear.

There has to be more to it than AI. GC has been spinning tall tales about gear for years now! One thing about that guitar that is vintage inspired is the price! 

There’s always a covey of National Scheerhorns on reverb.com listed as “Scheerhorns”.

The term “Tim-built” seems to be the differentiating colloquial these days.
