I finally finished this one. It's:
Scale: 27", 13 frets to the body.
Solid mahogany, top, sides, back and neck.
The ring is two 1/4" laminated birch rings. one of them routed to receive the cone. Head plate and bindings: black ABS
Coverplate, Tailpiece and Screens: Gold Star
Cone and Spider Bridge: Beard
Nut (by Beard Guitars): bone,
Tuners and End Pin: Golden Age Restoration
Bridge inserts (by Beard Guitars): maple and ebony.
Fretboard: Granadillo,
Bracing: sitka and mahogany
Fretwire: StewMac 0148 Medium
Strings: Beard Special 29's Phosphor Bronze
This guitar sounds fantastic. Much better than expected. I didn't install a baffle, and there is no basket. It's open with posts supporting the rings. I have it tuned to F and the bass is wonderful. I only wish I could capture the sound with a video, it's rich and punchy and very nice to play....but my opinion might be biased.

Very nice build. With the 27" scale, how did decide to tune it to F? I am presently building a baritone squareneck, also with a 27" scale, and I will be tuning it to Open A or B which I have done on my baritone weissenborns. The string set I use for this is .017 - .070. What strings did you use and what F tuning did you employ? With my Open A tuning, it has the same note to note relationship as Open D.
Again, nice work!.

Thanks for your reply, I tune it to F because it fits my vocal range better than open G in most cases. It is tuned a whole step down from open G...FACFAC. I can easily put my capo on to play in open G. I know I could have built a 25.5" scale and tuned it down, but, as I suspected, it sounds so much better with the longer neck and body (body dimensions are 42" long, upper but is 10.25" and lower bout is 14.75"). I may re-experiment with D tuning, but at this point, I am sticking with this tuning that is realative to open G, but I think I wouldn't use it so much if I switch tunings. My string set is Beard's Special 29's - 0.018 to 0.056 Phosphor Bronze.
Here's a video of this guitar with the crappy microphone of my chromebook.
