I always like Nanci Griffith, but in my family my late oldest brother was the big fan, he had many of her albums (I have most of those now) and he saw her live on a few occasions - I never did.

Here's the version from the second Transatlantic Sessions in 1998 with Jerry - hard to believe it's been 28 years - and Maura O'Connell does most of the lead singing.

Brilliant video with both Nancy and Maura but I wish they showed more of the dobro!

Have you identified the chords yet, key of G? I quickly put this together. Don't know where you are with your playing but will gently point out identifying the chord structure MUST be the starting point.

That being said. It's a lovely tune.

@hipdobro Thanks, yes I can play the chords. Nice for a novice! It’s the solo on the Nancy Griffin version that I find so haunting. How does he play the scales so smoothly? I can find the notes on D string, but can’t get that fluid sound. Is it a single string pattern or rolling across strings? I’m novice on dobro but intermediate on banjo. I know now that it’s not a dobro but pedal steel, but can a dobro make same sounds?
