Beard sells a few coverplate with removable bridge covers, but right now they only have them in black...and they[re imported. They have two styles, the usual fan and the lotus. I bet they will fit, but I'm not sure, so call before you buy.

It looks like the Rob Ickes model comes with a removable hand strap.

To my knowledge, all coverplates with removable palm rests are imported.

(I can be wrong though...)

National's original spider cone guitars had removable hand straps. When Tim Scheerhorn first began using his own coverplates, they had removable hand straps. He said he couldn't get the hand strap as tall as he wanted with the traditional single stamping. It looks like National may have reverted back to that coverplate for the Ickes model.

First of all, it's no longer the Rob Ickes model, that arrangement ended a few years ago and Rob has his Byrl signature model these days. It doesn't have the  little pickguard thingy between the coverplate and fretboard anymore, it's sold simply as the rosewood/spruce model. 
 

I have a Nati-horn coverplate with the removable palmrest that I was able to purchase from National in San Luis Obispo several years ago when they gave me a nice tour of the operation. I'm keeping it for a possible future guitar so it isn't for sale at this time. Joe Moreno,  have you contacted National to see if they would be willing to sell you one of their Scheerhorn (again - don't forget the "c" in Scheerhorn)  coverplates? 

Now here is something everyone is missing: the screw pattern of the Scheerhorn plate might be different than the Beard plate.

i originally bought the Nati-horn plate thinking  I would take off the Beard on my #1 guitar, a maple Clinesmith. I'm of the opinion that every spider bridge Reso should have a removable palm rest. It just makes too much sense. 

Except the Nati-horn plate has a different screw pattern. My Clinesmith was built in 2004. So unless Paul Beard changed his screw pattern over the years, or Tim Scheerhorn changed  his - unless a modern  Beard coverplate has the same pattern as a  Scheerhorn, new holes would have to be drilled in order for the  Beard coverplate to work on a Nati-horn guitar. 

Though I'm not much of a "shade tree luthier"  It shouldn't be too scary for me to drill a new set of holes if I want to use the 'horn plate on the Clinesmith, I just haven't done it since as I wrote earlier, I might use the 'horn plate on a new guitar.

Byrl quoted me as I recall $120 a couple years ago for a wooden removable palmrest if I wanted to modify an existing coverplate and add one of his.

Palm plate? Hand  strap? 

I started on dobro in the 1970s, and it's always been a palm rest to me. As it is to Paul Beard. Might be a good idea to come up with an "official" term for the thing that everyone can agree on.

Nice find on those coverplates Sam, and though they might be decent quality - if that is truly what National is using now on the Nati-horns, there's no way they are U.S. made at those prices. 

Particularly when you consider that the Beard U.S. made fan coverplate goes for $190 these days and even at that, they have been out of stock for sometime on the Resophonic Outfitters site.

when I saw that $28 for the legend cone and no shipping, I put it in the cart. When I went to checkout, there was a $16 shippiing and no paypal option. So, I removed it from the cart thinking it was a scam. Those prices are very suspicious all around.

There are very few 3rd parties selling Beard parts. I know Rob Ickes is advertising the cone.

The reason why the authentic parts are expensive is the cost of quality raw materials. Tariffs hit hard and costs are up all the way around.

A $28 Legend Cone?

My take - no need to be sorry.  Glad you surfaced the sites so we could kick the tires on 'em.  These (probably) bogus storefronts are everywhere and getting pretty convincing.

I got hosed on a power tool purchase once in a similar way.
