Was doing mic config tests in the home studio and a/b comparison on several mics in the arsenal.
This is my favorite configuration:
Bumblebee RM6 ribbon on the body
Shure SM81 small diaphragm condenser towards the neck
Both mics slightly less than ear level
Minimal eq with a Pultec style plug-in
Minimal reverb
delay on a single chord (IVm)
backup by computer
Not practiced/rehearsed. So, not "finished"! Just me messing around.
If you're a dobro geek you probably recognize the arrangement.

Great playing Howard! Love it. Clever move on the surgical use of delay.
Ribbons are great - been a while since I recorded with one. Did you have any issue with clean gain? With mine, I had to use an inline boost (Cloudlifter) to get my recording levels where I needed them. Your recording sounds very clean.
Excellent stuff!
Jamie,
Many thanks...
Yep, I've listened to the original track and I suspect it was toggled on that as well.
Yessir, I'm using a Steinberg interface and also needed the Cloudlifter CL-1 for adequate gain.
Dave, yeah... My primary axe.
It seems to suit me and I've learned how to extract "adequate tone" out of it :-)
cheers
