Bob Reed was my wife’s uncle. She played in his shop in Wanette, Oklahoma as a kid. No one in the family held onto one of his instruments and it is such a shame. If anyone has one or knows someone willing to sell one to a family member, please let me know. I would be very grateful for the opportunity. Thank you!
@Reed doBro:
This is a real shot in the dark, and you haven't provided us with any information as to your location - but in a few different years going back several I would attend The Amigo Guitar Show in San Rafael, a little north of San Francisco and there was a Reed for sale.
They have these guitar dealers (mostly used) who travel around to different locations for these shows. I didn't attend this year, but a vendor whose name escapes me brought a Reed each year I've been in the past several. To be honest when I played the guitar a few years ago it didn't sound very good to me, but it might have been in need of new strings and a fresh setup. I think of spider bridge dobros as sort of half guitar/half mechanical device so a guitar with worn parts and a poor setup might not be at its best, especially if its for sale by someone who doesn't know a whole lot about these things.
If by chance you live in Oklahoma you'll want to check this out. They do four of these shows per year - the Bay Area, Southern California, Nashville, and Mesquite, Texas. The Mesquite show is just around the corner - the weekend of October 17 & 18. You might contact Amigo and see if they can narrow down the list of vendors and there's a chance the one guy might still has that Reed for sale.

Here is another avenue to explore. If you're on Facebook, there is group you can join called Dobroholics, and because of the long arm of that social media site, the Dobroholics page gets considerably more activity than here on Resohangout (though I much prefer this site).
Dobroholics has a "sister" site on Facebook called Resophonic Sales / Trades. You could place a want ad there seeking a Reed, and you will get a lot more eyes on it than here on the hangout. A Reed might turn up at some point.
It's me and it's not a coincidence. I listed my Reed because of this conversation. I have a Reed, a RQ Jones, a Beard E Odyssey, a Dobro, a Beard deco-phonic with the biscuit bridge, a couple of lap steels some guitars, a banjo, and a couple of mandolins. The Reed sounds very good; for some reason it chimes louder and clearer than any other guitar I have. I do not have to sell it, but I have sold two other dobros on this site to the same person. Anyway, that's who is selling the Reed. David

I've heard that before, "Bob's your uncle"!
Everything is cool with the mudman. It's a nice dobro, but it is not all original. I have changed the cone and the tuning machines ( I put grovers on it). And I still play it. I am going to leave it for sale the length of the ad, and then I'll keep it. If nothing else, it gives me a chance to say something on the reso hangout...David

The guy looking for the Reed started the thread on Sept. 19, it's now going on a month and we haven't seen hide nor hair of him since.

Well I'm glad that worked out for you and whomever the buyer is.
