They were nice to deal with until they made a sale, then they refused to answer emails.  I prefer to shop were I can get good service.

Lenny Gerthoffer of Vintage Nationals agreed to sell for me a vintage National guitar -- a guitar I got from him at one time.  Lenny called the guitar "Professor Scratchy."  The guitar is no longer available on his site, although it is posted, and I have not seen any money from the sale.  Is this how Lenny does business?  He has never responded to any inquiries.  It has been at least two years since the guitar has been sold.  Anyone here get it?  The money is not the most important thing to me.  But I believe that Lenny Gerthoffer's practices are wrong.

Wunjo, Denmark St, London

I bet I'm not the only one to have had poor experiences in Denmark St music shops. But I enjoyed buying my Gretsch Alligator at Wunjo's. They had a reasonable stock, for a non-specialist shop: their website was pretty much up to date when I visited with about 15 to 20 resos from £2200 Nationals to most Gretschs.

I went at a fairly quiet time and was left to myself to try any of the stock on display, which was a very educational experience for this resonator newbie, while staff passing through were very helpful about set up options etc. There was a comfy sofa and a box of various picks, finger picks and slides.

Summary: a good place to start. Some limitations, but their website seems a fair reflection of what you can expect to find in the shop.

This is a store that specializes in Bluegrass music. They have Guitars, Mandolins, Banjos, Upright Bass and of course Resonators. They are (I think) the only store you can go into and test drive a Meredith and they usually have a couple of Beard resos. They are a fairly small shop and the employees were very friendly and helpful. In addition to all of the resos they have they have a very large selection of finger picks. They also had a huge selection of finger picks. I would recommend that anyone in the area go check them out. Smoky Mountain Guitars in Pidgeon Forge, TN
