Dobro Dale - Posted - 08/22/2008:  18:13:08

There's a good article about Jerry Douglas in the summer edition of Fretboard Journal. There are lots of pictures of his instruments and a great article on the way that the music world views the "Dobro" because of people like Douglas, Graves, Aldridge and others. In the 70s and 80s there was a magazine called Pickin' that was eventually bought out by Frets. These were great magazines that were written for musicians and builders. I haven't been as satisfied with any other magazine till I discovered Fretboard Journal. Its a little expensive but there are no ads, great pictures and the writing is several steps above many other music related magazines. By that I mean it gets deeper into the interests of instrument collectors, players and builders. The fan part of me still likes Bluegrass Unlimited, but the player/builder me is really liking Fretboard Journal. I have no connection with this publication but thought I'd pass on some good reading and picture viewing to my reso friends.
