Thanks for the input y'all and the first place I checked was Gruhn&Carter's second edition.
Gruhn's guide did not have the model I am searching.
Stamped on headstock from left to right: L3 219 93d
The first letter and # are model, then number made, year and the d signifies it's wood.
Anyone know this model?

I never got a chance to see Gruhn & Carter's second instrument book. Were the chapters on Maertins, mandolins banjos and dobros expanded over the first book?

Grant, do you have a photo of the instrument that you could share? That would certainly help us identify it better. Giving a serial number and asking us to identify a guitar is like giving us a license plate and asking us to identify an automobile. :)

Don, the second edition of Gruhn's Guide to Vintage Guitars has expanded information on almost every brand listed. It's worth the upgrade.

Sorry Brad, I don't do photos.
Knowing the seriel #, model #, and year built should be all one needs with Gruhn's Guide as it is easy to cross reference and make a determination. George does not even dignify this model in his Guide.
'93 was the year gibson purchased this company and I have a hunce this is part of the problem.
A typo? New personel in the factory? A disgruntled employee?
Numerous luthiers have seen this dobro and they don't know what it is!
Slothead, 12 frets to body, square shoulders, screens, top is not spruce, sunburst, body is so dark one can't see wood grain.
I tried hard to learn this model when I got her about 10 or 12 years ago. I thought I'd try here when this site opened.
I need to learn how to post photos!!

Don, this dobro has a two tone sunburst top and the body is very very dark brown. The top certainly could be maple as it is not spruce.
I am thinking of sending the specs and a "rub" of the numerals and letters stamped on the headstock to Vintage Guitar Mag's Question and answer column by Gruhn and Carter.
I really appreciate the help and input here, Thank you guys!!
