First place banjo winner at 1976 East Texas State University Bluegrass Festival. Also 1st place banjo winner at Bill Grant's Bluegrass Festival, Hugo Oklahoma in 1979. I was born in Honey Grove Texas and started playing ukulele at age 12. I moved on to guitar, then 4-string banjo, then 5-string banjo, then lap steel, then pedal steel (studying at Jeffran College in Nashville under Jeff Newman and Buddy Emmons.
