cocobolo neck ?

I just got a brass OMI Dobro body . I need a neck and I have some cocobolo in the shop and I thought  it might make a laminated neck withe some ebony or yellowhart for the center stripe. I think it should sustain nicely, but it  may be too bright. Anybody with experience or opinion on this or the rest of the project. I've never done this before so have a thousand questions. This is the start because  I like carving necks and I already have the wood. Thanks !

l played bass for years(got kinda good). got tired of the whole classic rock thing so i stopped playing for a few years. got sick and was out of work and boredom drove me to mess with a tenor banjo i had. i liked it but the banjo was an old pos so i built my own(wood working and music in one, ah heaven). carpel tunnel set in and stopped me. got my hands fixed and repaired a couple guitars so now i'm learning the open g on the 6 string and building/repairing.
