Perfect Fit

Thursday, January 22, 2015

I have been playing Bluegrass most of my life. Even though I live in Florida, I've heard my share of great musicians. From Everett Lily to Alan Bibey. The one observaton I keep coming too is how a musician has to match his instrument. I have seen guitar players making sweet music on his/her guitar then borrow someone else's and just fall apart. I underunderstand every player has their own prefrance of instrument design and style but it still seems to come back to that perfect fit. My father is a very talented Guitar and Mandolin player. I watched him play on his Blueridge 160 and just shine. Shortly after he grabbed my Blueridge 70A and something wasn't right. He was still good enough but it almost seemed like the guitar knew it wasn't me....odd to think that way but it's the truth. I have seen this on stage with a Nashville recording artist who I won't name. He is one of the best mandolin players I had ever heard. He had two Mandolins on stage and played them in rotation. I was amazed how his style fit so well with one but not the other. It was almost like it was not him....anyway just wanted to put out my two cents. Add Comment
