I am on a quest for a new reso. I plan to play several and then eventually make my purchase. I recently visited the shop of J D Myers at Fishook. I took the trip from my home in Cincinnati to J D's shop about 3 hours north east on a sunny April morning. J D's shop is located in Warsaw, Ohio, about 1 hour east of Columbus in beautiful northeastern Ohio farm country. After traversing on interstates and paved roads I came upon a 2 mile stretch of gravel road to J D's shop. J D greeted me at the shop while he was adding the finishing touches to an awe inspiring Brazlian Rosewood and Spruce beauty. His shop is well organized and so clean it looks like one of those micro chip manufacturing clean rooms. We proceeding inside his home and he placed a Koa guitar in my lap, while warning me to be careful not to ding it. By the way I took this warning as a plus because such a reminder showed me his passion and care for his creations. I looked over the guitar and it was amazing in terms of workmanship, fit, and finish. I then raked a thumb pick across the strings and yikes ! This guitar had amazing volume but the tone was that which dreams are made of. I have played many resos over the years and I would say this one is right up there with the best of the best. I am in love. I considered buying it on the spot but J D, a man of integrity , said that a person had put a doposit on it. I am praying that the guy backs out or has some financial calamity that causes him to cancel his order. Is that wrong or sinful of me ? Anyway I do not know if I will wind up with a Fishook but I would say if there is a better reso out there I have not seen it yet. On with my quest.

I play semi professionally in a Cincinnati based bluegrass band called, The Comet Bluegrass All Stars. We play 90 some dates a year in and around the greater Cincinnati area. I have recorded dobro and vocals on 3 CDs.
