Posted by schoonerman, updated: 12/5/2021
Download: PDF

Notes: I put together these chord charts for guitarist leaning open D (Weissenborn) as we're pretty used to thinking about chord shapes. If you have suggestions for addition or correction, please email me at spinnaker.sailing@yahoo.com

Wonderful Tonight

Genre: Jazz/Blues  Key: G  Tuning: GBDGBD (Standard Open G)  Difficulty: Intermediate
Posted by Clinker, updated: 10/14/2021
Download: PDF

Notes: I took a few liberties in finding notes for this song. You all might find better chords for the turnaround "...do I look alright..." but this one works for me for now.

Scarborough Fair

Posted by Don, updated: 2/26/2021
Download: TABLEDIT

Notes: Actually not sure if this is D minor or not. Suggestions?

Posted by Don, updated: 2/11/2021
Download: TABLEDIT

Notes: My first attempt at posting a tab and first use of TablEdit. As my note on the last measure indicates, I am not yet well versed in TableEdit. Gordon Lightfoot is a great song writer.

Red Haired Boy

Genre: Bluegrass  Key: A  Tuning: GBDGBD (Standard Open G)  Difficulty: Intermediate
Posted by Auver, updated: 12/30/2020
Download: PDF

Notes: My attempt at transcribing Red Haired Boy as played by Billy Strings. Capo is used at the 2nd fret.

Westphalia Waltz

Notes: This tab is from strumhollow.com This could be the one listed in the already existing library, but the link gives a 404 error.

Because He Lives

Genre: Traditional  Key: D  Tuning: DADF#AD (Open D)  Difficulty: Intermediate
Posted by krw2dbw, updated: 3/12/2020
Download: JPEG | JPEG

Notes: I play Resophonic and Lap Steel with slightly raised nuts. However, not so high as to make fretting behind the slide difficult.

Power In the Blood

Genre: Traditional  Key: D  Tuning: DADF#AD (Open D)  Difficulty: Intermediate
Posted by krw2dbw, updated: 2/8/2020
Download: JPEG

Notes: On my Lap Steel and Duolian copy I play with a slightly raised nut so I can fret behind the bar. In lower positions I can produce minors by fretting the third string behind the bar. Some sevenths can be achieved.

Yesterday

Genre: Pop  Key: G  Tuning: Other  Difficulty: Intermediate

Download: PDF | GUITAR-PRO 5

Notes: Just wanted to see if I could figure out a decent arrangement for solo dobro. I ended up using the drop E tuning I stole from Greg Booth (Low to high strings are EBDGBD) - standard GBDGBD except lower the sixth string to E) as it gave me some chords I just couldn't get otherwise. It also gave me a chance to use TuxGuitar to create the tab which was new to me. I've included a PDF and a TuxGuitar file converted to GuitarPro 5 format. I'll post an MP3 of the tune as soon as I get chance to record it.

Blessed Be the Name of the Lord

Genre: Old-Time  Key: G  Tuning: GBDGBD (Standard Open G)  Difficulty: Intermediate
Posted by krw2dbw, updated: 2/4/2019
Download: GIF | GIF

Notes: this is an Old Camp Song I heard on a Mississippi John Hurt Recording. It utilizes Stride Piano Style Thumb as well as Travis picking where I lose the Melody line. Any of the Stride thumb technique can be syncopated instead of playing on the Quarter Note.

I've Got A Mansion Just Over the Hilltop

Genre: Old-Time  Key: G  Tuning: GBDGBD (Standard Open G)  Difficulty: Beginner

Notes: This is being submitted as an MYR file from the Melody Assistant Program by Myriad. You can submit your tablature and it selects the Standard Notation for you. I haven't discovered how to notate a slide up to or down from a particular note.

Bluesette

Notes: This old Fleetwood Mac tune is fairly easy. The only challenge is to bend the 2. string behind the bar. I have substituted the 2. guitar with a mandolin. Good flight!
